Duties

Registration Table Volunteer

Positions Available: 1

Purpose: To provide registration support to event staff and help ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all attendees!

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting event staff with the attendee check-in process

  • Handling cash and cheque donations, under event staff supervision. Ensuring accuracy and security

  • Providing essential event details and answer attendee questions

  • Managing last minute registrations, ensuring a seamless process for individuals and groups who decide to join us on the day of the event

 

Cheer Squad Volunteer

Positions Available: unlimited

Purpose: To motivate walkers throughout their journey with enthusiasm and positivity!

Responsibilities:

  • Distribute and carry signs of encouragement along the walk route

  • Create a lively atmosphere by cheering on walkers as they walk by

  • Help wrap-up the event by collecting walking route signs

  • Fill cups with water and distribute to walkers at midway point in journey

 

Parking Lot Attendant Volunteer

Positions Available: 2-3

Purpose: To ensure attendee parking runs smoothly!

Responsibilities:

  • Direct traffic in/out of the event space as required

  • Provide clear and friendly instructions to drivers, guiding them to available and alternative parking spaces

Greeter Volunteer

Positions Available: 4

Purpose: To create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees!

Responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastically welcome and direct attendees to where they need to be (registration table for walkers, mingling for guests, etc.)

 

Media/Photographer Volunteer 

Positions Available: 1-2

Purpose: To utilize your passion for photography and creativity to capture the essence of the event through memorable photos!

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Capture candid and posed high-quality pictures of walkers/teams/guests attending the event

  • Provide access to images post-event to a YWCA Muskoka administrator to be used for promotional purposes and to preserve the memories of the event

  • Must have your own camera and SD card for image storage (Option for YWCA to arrange for equipment)

 

Load In/Load Out Team Volunteer

Positions Available: 4 volunteers + 1 truck

Purpose: Be the driving force behind a smooth and seamless event setup and takedown!

Responsibilities: 

  • Arrive at YWCA Muskoka to load supplies into vehicles (for load in)

  • Kickstart the event by unloading supplies at venue

  • Help wrap-up the event by loading supplies back into vehicles and unloading at YWCA Muskoka (load out)

 

Warm Up Leader Volunteer

Positions Available: 1

Purpose: Help walkers start their journey on the right foot by ensuring they are warmed up and ready to go! Your efforts will contribute to the overall well-being and enjoyment of the walk.

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Lead walkers in engaging light stretches to help them prepare for the walk

  • Relevant background or experience in health/wellness/group facilitation is preferred for this role.

These youth programs work to prevent violence by exploring issues that help young people develop healthy relationships now and in the future.
