Description (Service) Resources available:

At the District level, MNR's mandate is achieved by:
  • Providing early commitment of staff for liaison and support to municipalities, and unincorporated / first nation communities;
  • Issuing watches and warnings to all communities (drought/low water & flood)
  • Providing emergency support to other ministry's and agencies;
  • assigning District Incident (emergency response) Team(s) to co-ordinate MNR efforts;
  • coordinating with MNR regional and provincial operations centers and Emergency Management Ontario.
If requested through Emergency Management Ontario, MNR may be able to provide the following resources:
  • District and regional staff, fire crews, specialists (ie. Incident Command expertise)
  • Emergency response teams (District - Flooding, erosion, , dam failure, Wind Events), Regional ( Forest Fire [Minden]), (Provincial - drought, crude oil & natural gas, mines)
  • Vehicles, boats, generators, chainsaws, pump, and camping equipment
  • telecommunications equipment including radios (low band), satellite and cellular telephones
  • Mobile units including kitchens, offices, warehouse and washroom units
  • Helicopters and fixed wing aircraft (passenger and Water bombing)
  • Maps and mapping Services
  • Access to private contractors who can supply firefighters and full or partial base camp operations (remote command centers that can include offices, kitchen facilities and washroom facilities)
  • Sandbags may be available during a flood emergency. However municipalities that have identified flooding as a concern would be showing due diligence by having a predetermined number of sandbags available for use during an emergency.

Hours Staff are available by appointment only; please phone ahead to make an appointment. The Bracebridge Field office does not provide walk-in services.
