Trained volunteers and staff provide support and services to people affected by emergencies

• For the first 72 hours following an incident (house fires, floods, wildfires etc) provides services such as emergency shelter, food, clothing, and emotional support
• In large scale emergencies, Canadian Red Cross personnel work with governments and other organizations to assist affected individuals meet their basic needs
• Outside of emergencies, volunteers represent Canadian Red Cross at information sessions and community events to raise awareness on emergency preparedness
• Volunteers are also expected to attend in-person and online meetings and trainings

• Emergency services are available Mon-Sun 24 hrs
• Local volunteers are expected to be available Mon-Sun from 9 am-9 pm
• Required support outside of these hours are provided through the virtual on-call response system
• In larger scale emergencies, volunteers will be deployed to support responses within or outside of Ontario for longer hours
